It’s very easy to install Go on Mac OS. Let’s get started.

  • What nobody has asked yet is WHY build a Mac server from this hardware when CentOS would likely do almost anything better than macOS Server on the same hardware. Don't get me wrong, I love Mac OS as a desktop OS, but macOS Server is a real pain to work with and maintain.
  • This old Mac mini could become your new server. Compatibility: If you want to serve protected iTunes content—TV shows and movies—to Macs, iOS devices, or an Apple TV, a Mac running iTunes.
  • From the Apple menu in the corner of your screen, choose About This Mac. You should see the macOS name, such as macOS Big Sur, followed by its version number. If you need to know the build number as well, click the version number to see it.
  • Devices and Mac OS X version. VLC media player requires Mac OS X 10.7.5 or later. It runs on any Mac with a 64-bit Intel processor or an Apple Silicon chip. Previous devices are supported by older releases. Note that the first generation of Intel-based Macs equipped with Core Solo or Core Duo processors is no longer supported.

1. Download Go Mac OS Installer Package

Go to the GoLang download page: https://golang.org/dl/ and download the Mac OS installer package.

2. Run the Installer Package to Install Go on Mac

I suggest you use Mac OS 10.5 or higher when trying to build OpenBIOS. Part 1: Installing the cross compiler on Mac OS X 1). Download the AWOS cross compiler: 2) Expand this bz2 file by double clicking on it. 3) Rename the file AWOS-CC to AWOS-CC.img. 4) Open the image file. 5) Open the 'AWOS Cross-Compiler for OS X' file on the newly mounted disk.

Open the Mac OS installer package and follow the steps. There are no configurations and options to choose from, so it’s a straight forward installation.

3. Verifying Go Installation by checking its version

Launch the terminal and run the go version command and it should print the GoLang version.
